FIRST LESSON
Welcome to your first Chinese lesson. We'll be dealing with how to say hello in Chinese here. Below will be teaching videos for your aid.
First of all, there are different terms in the Chinese Language.
Mandarin: It means standard Chinese without an accent.
Pinyin: is the official system for Standard Chinese in mainland China. Used to teach Standard Mandarin Chinese, which is normally written using Chinese characters.
HELLO - NIHAO (Nǐ hǎo)
"Ni hao" means "Hello" in Mandarin. And it's character is written like this. --- (你 好).
Below is a video teaching you the method of the pronunciation of the word, "Ni Hao".
In this video above, you were introduced to two types of ways of saying hello in Chinese. Actually, both are correct.
Ni - Is used for friends, age mates, peers.
Nin - Is used for elderly people, adults. Its a way of showing respect. Actually, it isn't compulsory. It's a matter of choice.
Also, take note there is a difference between the characters of Ni and Nin.
